Passed away August 2020
Owner of Cannon Beach Liquor for over 37 years. Succeeded by his son, Paul Pastor. Dave Pastor was an independent videographer who worked with most Local & National Broadcast News Agencies. Photojournalist Dave Pastor accompanied local firefighters protecting homes from wildfires in Wenatchee, WA. His footage of dozens of US Coast Guard rescues at sea has aired on CNN and worldwide. He covered the story of an animal collector and her 165 dogs living in a filthy school bus and covered the downfall of Clatsop County’s first woman district attorney, from office to jail.
Habitat for Humanity hired Pastor in the summer of 1995 to film its Carter Work Project construction project in Los Angeles’ Watts neighborhood – 25 homes built in 5.5 days. Pastor also went with Habitat to Hungary to film the first Carter Work Project overseas. Pastor admits he was skeptical of Habitat and leery about religious overtones. The turning point came when he stood on a roof in Watts, filming the workers – “I realized we were all involved and none of our differences mattered – income, nationality, race or religion.” After filming the Carter Work Projects for two summers for Habitat for Humanity International, Dave started an affiliate to begin building houses for low income people back home in Clatsop County.
